IM Alex Lenderman and IM Jay Bonin tied for first in the St. John's Masters G/30 on Tuesday February 17. They both scored 3.5-0.5 and split the first and second place prize money of $250 each. Bonin also collect the upset prize ($30) for his final-round upending of GM Giorgi Kacheishvili.
Third prize was split by GM Michael Rohde and NM Yaacov Norowitz, whose 3-1 scores earned $80 each. The under-2300 prize was shared by FM Asa Hoffmann, WIM Iryna Zenyuk, and FM Boris Privman, all with 2.5 ($10 each).
A selection of games from the event will be coming up in a later post.
Steve Immitt directed the 23-player field, and the full crosstable is available from the USCF website.
The next St. John's Masters is on the third Tuesday of the month of March: March 17th at 7:00 pm. The games from the top boards will again be shown live on ICC.
The tournament is open to all players rated 2100 and above. Players under 2100 can qualify to enter by scoring 2.5 or higher in one of the four "4 Rated Games Tonight!" Thursday Night Action tournaments held since the previous month's St. John's Masters.
The tournament is sponsored by St. John's University and organized by Dr. Frank Brady.
